Five Ingredient Friday

Today's recipe actually has slightly more than 5 ingredients...but I got the "ok" from Overwhelmed to post it :)

It is the Apple Cinnamon Waffles I mentioned Joe made for breakfast last Sunday.

2 1/4 cups Original Bisquick® mix
1 1/4 cups milk
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 egg
1/2 cup finely chopped peeled apple

1. In large bowl, stir all waffle ingredients except apple until blended. Stir in apple. Pour batter onto center of hot waffle iron. Close lid of waffle iron.
2 . Bake about 5 minutes or until steaming stops. Carefully remove waffle. Serve with syrup.

If you would like to make the Cider Syrup

1 cup sugar
3 tablespoons Original Bisquick® mix
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 cups apple cider
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/4 cup butter or margarine

In 2-quart saucepan, mix 1 cup sugar, 3 tablespoons Bisquick mix and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Stir in cider and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and boils. Boil and stir 1 minute; remove from heat. Stir in butter.

On Oct 2 Overwhelmed will be hosting a Holiday Cooking, Blogger Style recipe exchange - so start getting your favorite holiday recipes together to share!

And one final thing...there have been a few questions as to whether a "slow cooker" and "crock pot" were the same thing and interchangeable. I thought they were and have used both words to mean the same thing, but I didn't know for sure though, so I went to ask.com to find out!

A Crock Pot is a slow cooker, but a slow cooker isn't always a Crock Pot. The name Crock-Pot® is a brand name of a line of slow cookers manufactured and sold under the Rival® brand name.
The term slow cooker is the generic product name for a stand-alone appliance with a heating element and ceramic casserole dish that cooks foods with slow, moist heat.

That's why other brands such as Sunbeam, Hamilton Beach, Farberware, etc refer to their products as slow cookers - because Crock-Pot® is a brand name, but they are all the same.

In many cases, the trademarked name is so commonly used as the generic product name that the public is confused, and occasionally — as in the case of Monopoly — a judge will rule that the trademarked name has become so general that the company can no longer claim to own the name.

So there you have it!

I am SOOOO missing huge American breaksfast/brunches... Bookie makes me breakfast on the weekend too, but waffles and pancakes are not so big over here. The only American restaurant in town is Hooters... (McD and Burger King does not count). So eat some extra waffles and pancakes for me, will you?
