ENT

Kayla had an ENT appt this morning.

There was good news and bad news.

The bad news: He informed me the tube in her left ear was out. I could feel my heart sinking because I knew that meant I would need to schedule yet another surgery for her to have the tube put back in.

That's on top of the cardiac catheter I still need to schedule (which they gave me dates in June, July and August to choose from) and I think her tear ducts need probing again because her eyes are all watery and gooky again. I know those are minor procedures, but still.

So the good news: He said there was NO FLUID in the ear where the tube is out! Yay! What does that mean? No need to have it put back in! At least not right now (and hopefully not later either!) There is always the chance the fluid could start to build back up and she will need tubes again, but for now her ear is working and draining like it should be.

The last time her tube came out (she's on her 2nd set) there was already fluid in the ear which is why she needed a second set in. So this time it's been out for who knows how long and there hasn't been any fluid building back up. I'll just continue to pray that it stays that way. She'll still go for check ups every 4 months to check on the ears and she might be more prone to ear infections, but it's just something to watch for now.

I'll keep her in my prayers as well, in the hopes that the tube can stay out!

We went through something like that but Kendalls ear canals were too small for tubes so we went through 26 doses of antibiotics to keep infection down.No problems now!God Bless you, praying for you and your gorgeous girl!

Well....the good news sounds great [literally!] and the bad news...yuck,,,but I know Kayla will do so well during the procedures.

Fortunately Miss E has only had two official ear infections, but her canals are so small that the ENT told us there would be no way to put in tubes. I guess this seems odd because most everyone I read about is much younger than her when they get them.

I am glad that her ear is free of fluid-hopefully it will stay that way-Kayla has had enough surgery no need for anything extra.

Oh, I hope the tubes can stay out!! And that everything else works out the way she needs it to!

I'm glad to hear that the ear that lost the tube is fluid free. I hope it'll stay that way! Any surgical procedure on your baby is scary whether it's "minor" or not. I know she'll be fine, but I'll be praying anyway cuz I love you guys.

Wow that is great news!! I am hoping along with you that the fluid does not return!!!

Callum had his first tubes at 2 years old and they fell out within 4 months. He had no fluid at that time and passed his hearing test so we just did his usual ENT checkups. 8 months later the fluid was back so we redid his tubes.

I've been missing from blogland for awhile so I'll have to go back and read about the cardiac catheter.

I know your struggles. Melaina is on her second set of tubes, she just had her tonsils and adenoids out 2 weeks ago. Heart caths aren't bad...she had one in April. Still, it's hard to see your baby go through all this medical stuff.

Here's hoping it won't have to go back in! Tristan was scheduled for tube surgery when he was younger due to fluid build up but it was cancelled and when I went back he was fluid free so it never happened. :) So maybe hers will stay clear now too. We have our Cardiac appointment June 15th I am so nervous. Tristan has never had his tear ducts probed but he has watery eyes often and has constant eye infections. What is involved with this? Is it evasive. Why don't I know about this? lol These may seem like minor procedures to someone that isn't going through them. Not so minor to Kayla or her Parents!

Yay on the clear ear! I'm hoping the other procedures go well.
