Katie used fashion design books to teach herself to draw. She practiced for several years with a fashion sketchbook, moved on to free-hand sketches, and discovered her own technique with her unique flair and style.
She held her first gallery show this past Feb and has since exhibited in several private and public galleries in Florida. Just a couple of months ago she went international when she sold works in Canada and Great Britain. She has also gained recognition in the fashion industry being featured in several fashion articles.
Katie actively gives back to the community and supports people with disabilities through her Helping Others Help Themselves initiative.

Katie and her mom are both supporting 31 for 21 and 21 Days of Giveaways. Katie donated a 5x7 framed giclee (value $45) for one winner and 2 sets of note cards (value $24) for a second winner.
Katie's mom, Ruth, started a blog to participate in 31 for 21. She is chronicling this last year's "Magical Journey" as Katie is discovered and blossoms. I'm enjoying reading about this journey and the 'lessons learned' Ruth posts at the end of each entry.
