Before and After

I took Kayla for a hair cut today. It's been awhile; almost a year ago the last time she had it cut! She's had her bangs trimmed since then, but that's it because it's such an ordeal for her to get it cut!

She really needed it cut though and I wanted it shorter, much shorter. It's just too much to deal with trying to comb it out every morning with the little tangles. Not to mention her hair grows forward so it's always falling in her face - especially when she's eating. So just about every day I have to pull it back into a ponytail.

She did a little better this time. She still didn't want the cape on her, or even a towel placed around her shoulders. She didn't want to sit on the big cushiony pad to make her taller. She didn't want to stand on the chair. She didn't want to sit on the chair. Now you can see why it's been almost a year! So I sat on the edge of the chair in front of her while she stood up and brushed my hair and had her hair cut. That was the best we could do; she still didn't keep her head still though.

I meant to take before and after pictures, because her hair was really long - down to the middle of her back. Of course I forgot to do that this morning. Just about all the pictures I have of her is with her hair up. I did find this video I took about 3 wks ago - you can see how long her hair is (was.)

and now for the after:

what a difference! I hope she'll be able to eat without hair getting in her mouth now!

Speaking of before and after pictures, check this out:

No I didn't all of a sudden learn how to do this! Remember awhile ago when I won those pair of free shoes from a drawing at The Opinionated Parent? Well I'm also a reviewer over there now and I was asked to review a site that does photo enhancements. I just love what she did with this photo! If you want to know the online business who created this go visit The Opinionated Parent and read my review to find out! You'll want to do this anyway so you can enter the drawing to win a free personalized enhancement!

  2. Her hair cut is adorable! I love the shorter hair on her.
That photo enhancement is to die for. What a neat idea. I can't believe they can do that with just a regular photo.

  3. They did a fantastic job cutting her hair! It can be such a challenge to cut a child's hair. Kayla looks so cute and sassy! Perfect for summer too. I love "bob's" on little girls.

  6. AAck!!! You cut off her hair!!! You CUT OFF HER HAIR!!!! I cannot believe it... I am a long hair freak, can you tell? And with a daughter who still only has baby fuzz, I cannot fathom cutting it short. BUT, I know what a hassle it can be and I have seen my nieces with issues... so I forgive you... But I'm still sad.

  34. Adorable! I love her hair shorter. I did the same thing when my girls were this age - I had no patience at all with all the long, tangled hair. Rob actually did Krissy's hair into long braids for me.

You know, I don't know if she'd wear one, but a headband would be the perfect solution to her hair getting in the way when she's eating. Geez. Do they even still make headbands?

I can't believe what she did with photo. How precious is that? I love those wings and all the flowery background. I swear, some people are just so talented!

  35. Tell her that her new hairdo is just perfect. I'm sure it's lots easier for Mom too!! I can remember when my daughter was little. She has very, very curly hair. Washing and the combout afterward were sheer torture (for both of us). I love her new look.
And that picture is amazing. What will they think of next :-)

She looks gorgeous! I'm getting my hair cut like that this weekend... Not because of Kayla... I've been meaning to do it for some time now. Anyway, she just looks awesome. I think the length is just right. You don't wanna go to drastic all of a sudden... I love it!!
